Easy, Sugar-free Mango Jam

Mangoes are super cheap when it’s summer time in the Philippines and today, I tried this super easy and natural mango jam. For this recipe you will need:

3 large, very ripe mangoes

Juice of 1 medium sized lime

Juice of 2 small kalamansi

1/2 cup raw, wild honey

1 pc star of anise (optional)


Peel, crush the mangoes and place it together with the other ingredients on a large pot.

Boil on medium heat, occasionally stirring it. After 15 minutes, check if it’s not too gooey.

When ready, transfer in a sterilized container.

Here’s a tip: Instead of using pectin powder, I used the kalamansi seeds as “natural” pectin. I saw this really interesting Orange Marmalade tutorial made by a Japanese woman wherein she used the seeds of lemon and placed it in an empty teabag. Since I was too lazy,  I just included the seeds and fished it out later.

And this is how it turned out. 🙂
